Rules for International Official Umpires
(Purposes)
- International Soft Tennis Federation (ISTF) shall have International Official Umpires for the purposes of international promotion of soft tennis as well as smooth operations of international soft tennis competitions where fair judgment shall be performed.
(Classes)
- International Official Umpires shall be classified into the following classes:
(1) Honorary Umpire (s)
(2) Senior Umpire (s)
(3) Umpire (s)
In addition, there may be cases where ISTF Umpire Instructors may be appointed out of Honorary Umpires and/or Senior Umpires for the purpose of training International Official Umpires.
(Duties)
- The duties of International Official Umpires shall be the following:
(1) The Honorary Umpires shall supervise training of International Official Umpires. Honorary Umpires may be appointed to referees for various official international
competitions held under the organization of ISTF and/or similary applied international competitions.??
(2) The Senior Umpires may be appointed to referees and/or umpires for various ??official international competitions held under the organization of ISTF and/or similary applied international competitions..
(3) The Umpires may be appointed to umpires for various official international competitions held under the organization of ISTF and/or similary applied
International competitions..
(Qualification)
4. Qualification for International Official Umpires shall be made by the ISTF Umpires and Rules Committee under the following criteria.
(1) The Honorary Umpires shall be qualified out of those whose ages are over 60 years old and who are qualified as the Senior Umpires by the ISTF Umpires and Rules Committee. The Honorary Umpires have lifelong qualification.
- The Senior Umpires shall be qualified by the ISTF Umpires and Rules Committee out of the Umpires who have experiences of umpiring in twice or

more international competitions and are recognized as good performers during their qualification term of the Umpires as well.
- The Umpires shall be qualified by the ISTF Umpires and Rules Committee out of
- those who are selected out of those who have received two or more days umpire trainings which are conducted by the member national associations and which are approved by the ISTF Umpire and Rules Committee, and
- those who are applied by the member national associations with qualification
fee as well.
- As exceptional cases, the ISTF Umpires and Rules Committee may qualify those who are applied by the individual and who have been qualified as some international official umpires as follows;
- over 60 years old: as the Honorary Umpire(s)
- 60 years old or less than 60 years old: as the Umpire(s)
(Qualification Term)
5. A qualification term of International Official Umpires shall be 6 years from the 1st of January of the year qualified.
(Registration)
- Those who have been qualified as International Official Umpires shall be registered in ISTF.
(Qualification Certificate)
- ISTF Registration Certificate and ISTF Official Umpire Emblem shall be provided to those who have been qualified as International Official Umpires.
(Renewal)
- The qualifications as International Official Umpires may be renewed by the ISTF Umpires and Rules Committee based on confirmation of the performance etc. in the case that application is made by the individual.
(Qualification Fee)
- The qualification fee for an International Official Umpire shall be the following:
(1) The Honorary Umpire US$120.00 for life
(2) The Senior Umpire US$60.00 for one term (max. 6 years)
(same amount for both new and renewed)
(3) The Umpire US$30.00 for one term (max. 6 years)
(same amount for both new and renewed)

(Cancellation of Qualification)
- In the case where there is any undue act(s) made by an International Official Umpire, ISTF Umpires and Rules Committee may cancel the qualification of the individual umpire. In this case Qualification Fee already paid shall not be refunded.
(Supplementary Provisions)
- These Rules shall be made effective as of September 7, 2007.
